Numerous digital photo imperfections can be easily compensated for using GIMP. There are filters that can fix distortion caused by poor lighting.

Several helpful plug-ins come installed in the software and there are others that I was able to download for free and easily upload to the software. There are several different brushes, all of which can be customized to change the brush stroke’s size and the density of the coloring, tools that will automatically enhance the pictures, and great filters for adding that final touch to perfect the image. I was very impressed with the variety of tools that are readily available with GIMP. GIMP is a customizable photo editing program Overall, GIMP is one of the best photo editing software programs available compared to both subscription-based and free software. In addition to the built-in tools, GIMP is compatible with more than 100 plug-ins that will extend the software functionality. It uses a similar layer-based design made popular by Photoshop, which makes it easy to edit different components, go back to through the editing history to make changes, add masks, gradients, and move elements around without affecting the rest of your image. With GIMP, you can retouch images or use the tools to design images, logos, newsletters, brochures, and more.

It has the professional tools to go up against any digital editing programs and plenty of tutorials and user-guides to help you get started. GIMP is a free, open-source photo editing software that rivals more expensive programs like Adobe Photoshop. You will need to restart your computer to complete the uninstallation process, but this doesn’t have to be done right away.

Img.insert_layer(l, gl) # gl should be the parentĪll I get is the error: Calling error for procedure 'gimp-image-insert-layer': L = gimp.Layer(img, "Real Layer", 1, 1, 0) Gl = gimp.GroupLayer(img, "Group Layer", 1, 1, 0) I add the group layer to the image, and then try to add the normal layer to the image with the group layer as a parent: img = gimp.image_list() I've verified this by making two layers, one a normal layer, and one a group layer. The real problem is that when I insert the newly created GroupLayer, it shows up as a normal layer (no folder in the layer icon). The first thing that really confuses me is that it expects me to specify a height & width for the GroupLayer, even though it should just act as a container for other actual layers (it's expecting this because it inherits from Layer, but that's another matter). Gl = gimp.GroupLayer(img, "Should be a folder", 1, 1, 0)
I've been trying stuff like this: img = gimp.image_list() How do you insert this into the image though and have it show up as a layer group? I eventually found gimp.GroupLayer (PDB lists gimp-layer-group-new) to create a new layer group. The PDB's documentation/naming convention is rather backwards if you're trying to do things with python in gimp and hard to figure out.
